Denver Health’s Sam Sandos Westside Family Health Center is being redeveloped, and patients will soon have a new medical home with state-of-the-art technology, light-filled spaces and additional health care services. During construction, the current building will remain open to provide all services. The new building will be constructed in the parking lot along Federal BLVD, so the patient entrance has moved to the other side of the building, down the hill to the east. Patient parking is available in the lower parking lot close to the relocated main entrance, and overflow parking is available at the lot at 11th and Federal Blvd. For those walking or using public transit, please note that the sidewalk on the east side of Federal Blvd between 11th and 12th Streets will be closed during construction.
Tips to arrive at your appointment on time during construction:
- Arrive early to give yourself time to find parking
- Complete eCheck-In on MyChart before arrival
- Review the map before arriving

During construction, patient parking is available in the lots outlined on the map. The entrance to the building has moved to the east side of the building.
The redevelopment of Westside Family Health Center is one of Denver Health’s top priorities.
The new, three-story clinic, nearly double the existing square footage, will be built on the same site as the existing clinic, which will remain fully operational until the new clinic is built. At that time the old clinic will be demolished and replaced with a parking deck.
Services
In addition to continuing women’s health and OB/GYN services, the rebuilt clinic will expand services in primary care for children and adults, behavioral health, dental, substance use disorders, laboratory and pharmacy.
Denver Health is also adding new services such as physical and occupational therapy, and radiology (ultrasound, X-ray and CT).
Community Impact
This project will allow Denver Health to hire 30-40 new employees to join the existing 91 employees, including doctors, nurses, phlebotomists, administrative staff, food service staff and cleaning and maintenance personnel. In addition, the new clinic will be able to accommodate an additional 6,200 patients annually, for a total of 35,000 a year.
This project directly supports Sun Valley’s Grow Health initiative by offering increased access to medical, dental and behavioral health in the neighborhood.
