Bridges on Bannock, 8th Ave. To Close For Repairs

The South and North Bannock street and Eighth Avenue bridges over Cherry Creek at Speer Boulevard will close for repairs in November and December. The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said work will include resurfacing the bridge deck, sidewalk repairs, replacement of the waterproof membrane, replacement of joints, beam repairs and electrical repairs.

Repairs to the Eighth Avenue bridge will require two separate double-lane closures, while work on Bannock Street bridges will require two separate full closures during working hours.

Patients and visitors should allow for extra time to arrive and plan an alternate route.

Schedule, Closures

All closures will happen from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

1. Eighth Avenue bridge, two weeks of double right lane closures beginning in early November and two weeks of double left lane closures beginning in mid-November.
2. North Bannock bridge, two weeks of full closures beginning in early December. Detour: North Speer Boulevard to use 11th Avenue or South Speer Boulevard to use South Bannock bridge.
3. South Bannock Bridge, approximately two weeks of full closures beginning in mid-December. Detour: North Speer Boulevard to use North Bannock bridge or South Speer Boulevard to use Logan Street.
