Mothers who had their babies using a Certified Nurse Midwife at Denver Health talk about the special connection they have with their provider.

Midwifery Services for all Women

Denver Health Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) support women in all stages of life by providing prenatal and postpartum care, labor and delivery support and routine well-women checkups. Our team is here to make sure the right care is provided for every woman, and to encourage pregnancy and childbirth as natural, healthy life events.

Our devoted team of Midwives delivers more than 1,000 babies each year. The collaborative model at Denver Health between Midwives and Physicians enables emphasis on your choice and minimizes medical intervention. This approach has led to Denver Health Midwives having one of the lowest C-section rates in Colorado. Every step is taken to help you achieve a pregnancy and delivery that is right for you.

Services

What is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)?

A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is a nurse practitioner with a master’s degree in midwifery. The Denver Health Midwives provide an array of women’s services, from pap smears, prenatal care, postpartum follow-up, to birth control prescriptions and menopausal care.

Why choose Denver Health Midwives?

Our team approach at Denver Health, with Midwives and Physicians working together, guarantees you’re informed, prepared and feeling your best. Our collaborative practice serves as a model for the nation, and ensures the best care for mothers and their new babies.

With a minimally invasive approach, the Midwives at Denver Health pride themselves on having the lowest C-section rates in Colorado and high vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) success rates. This is accomplished by providing women with education, skilled labor support and minimal interventions. The Denver Health Midwives advocate for women to have the birth experience they desire, whether with the use of pain medication or natural childbirth.

What to expect

Our Denver Health Midwives support you through your pregnancy, labor and birth with as little intervention as possible — providing education, encouragement and reassurance throughout your entire experience.

Denver Health’s Midwives advocate for you during childbirth, supporting your choice to have an epidural or avoid pain medication during delivery. If a complication occurs, Denver Health’s Physicians are always available, so you can be worry free, and avoid any last minute transfers. This collaboration allows for you to continue receiving care with your Midwife, with expert consultation from our Board Certified OB/GYN Physicians.
